Experience in Counselling and related areas:
My past work experience has included two years as a volunteer counsellor with the Addiction Recovery Agency in Bristol (2005 - 2007)to reduce or stop drinking and also individuals affected by the drinking of a family member or close friend.

Since 2002 I have worked as a volunteer listener on a national telephone helpline helping parents to cope with the ups and downs of family life.

My interest in emotional issues and how they impact on our lives began when I returned to education as a mature student in 1991 to study a GCSE in Psychology. A couple of years later I encountered the ideas of Carl Rogers, an American psychotherapist and founder of client or person centred therapy whilst at UWE studying English! Social psychology was an optional module that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I have a special interest in creative writing and poetry for therapeutic purposes and I am currently facilitating a "creative writing group for counsellors and therapists".

Visit the website regularly for creative writing ideas.

I belong to the following organisations for personal and professional development needs and for interest:
The Association for Humanistic Psychology in Britain (AHPB)
Lapidus, an organisation that promotes healing through reading and writing.
Twins and Multiple Births Association (Tamba)
Human Givens Institute
