Counselling for Bristol and Bath area
What is Counselling? There are lots of definitions of counselling out there and very many different models and approaches. I hope here to simplify the situation a little with a practical definition of my own. Essentially counselling is a relationship between two people in which one person (the trained and qualified counsellor) helps another person (the client) with an aspect of their life that is causing them distress. Models and approaches vary, however most counsellors will offer you genuine acceptance of who you are as a person and will not be judgemental about any issue or situation that you talk about during a session. They will also listen very carefully to what you say and offer you genuine understanding. They will also work hard at understanding how it feels to be you, so that they can help you to assess your own needs and consider what direction to take.
